Gem Isle is located at Marang, a district of the East Coast state of Terengganu, Malaysia. The culturally rich state of Terengganu also has some of the world's most beautiful islands and breathtaking eco-tourism attractions.
Getting here
By Air from Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Fly into Kuala Terengganu (TGG) airport. Choose either Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia. Get into an airport taxi and head SOUTH to MARANG jetty. Journey should take about 35 minutes from airport to jetty.
By Road
From the West coast, take the Karak-Kuantan highway. At the end of the Karak-Kuantan Highway, a choice of 2 routes can lead to MARANG Jetty.
The 1st route is via Bukit Besi & Jerangau. One passes by oil palm plantations and fruit orchards on this route. One should look out for Kg Perpat exit after Wakaf Tapai. This is a faster route to Marang Jetty.
The 2nd route is along the coastal highway via the various scenic coastal towns such as Cherating, Dungun and Rantau Abang. Sea views can be seen along the way with plenty of opportunities to enjoy local food, atmosphere and friendly locals. End your drive at Marang Jetty.
Duration of journey from Kuala Lumpur could be approximately 4.5 to 5 hours.
Do have a road map handy at all times.
On Arrival at Marang Jetty
There are many boat services to Gem Isle at the jetty. The most frequent and regular service provider is Suria Link. Just a mere 15 minutes and you will have a breathtaking view of Gem and Kapas islands with crystal clear waters all the way.
