Location

Gem Island is located at Marang, on the east coast of Terengganu, a culturally rich state in Malaysia.

Getting there

By Air from Kuala Lumpur (KUL)

You can fly to Kuala Terengganu (TGG) by Air Asia, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly. You can also check their respective websites for flight details, www.airasia.com , www.malaysiaairlines.com.my and www.fireflyz.com.my.

You are advise to book the morning flight on the arrival day and afternoon or night flight on departure day, to meet our boat schedule.

We can assist to arrange for airport transfer to Marang Jetty.

By Road

From the West coast, take the Karak-Kuantan highway.

At the end of the Karak-Kuantan Highway, a choice of 2 routes can lead to MARANG Jetty.

The 1st route is via Bukit Besi & Jerangau. One passes by oil palm plantations and fruit orchards on this route. One should look out for Kg Perpat exit (T173) before Wakaf Tapai. This is a faster route to Marang Jetty. Kg. Perpat exit is approximately 2 km from Ajil junction.

The 2nd route is along the coastal highway via the various scenic coastal towns such as Cherating, Dungun and Rantau Abang. Sea views can be seen along the way with plenty of opportunities to enjoy local food, atmosphere and friendly locals. End your drive at Marang Jetty.

Duration of journey from Kuala Lumpur could be approximately 4.5 to 5 hours. Do have a road map handy at all times.

On Arrival at Marang Jetty

Surialink is our official boat service operator to Gem Island at the jetty. They are our most frequent and reliable service provider. Just a mere 15 minutes and you will have a breathtaking view of Gem and Kapas islands with crystal clear waters all the way.

Marang Jetty / Gem Island – departs at 0900 / 1100 / 1300* / 1500 hours

Gem Island / Marang Jetty – departs at 0930 / 1130 / 1330* / 1530 hours

* These 2 schedules are not available on Fridays only.

Current Rate is RM 70.00 for Return Transfers per adult & RM 55.00 per child (12 years & below)

Note : Out of schedule boat transfers charge is an additional of RM160.00 per boat per way (3pm – 6pm) & RM160.00 per boat per way (6am – 9am). Max 12 pax per boat.
