Getting here
By Air from Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
You can fly to Kuala Terengganu (TGG) by Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia and Fireflyz. Please check out their respective website for flight schedules. Fireflyz now flies directly from Singapore to Kuala Terengganu, 3 times weekly. You can also check out their website, www.malaysiaairlines.com.my, www.airasia.com or www.fireflyz.com.my. We can assist to arrange for airport transfer from TGG airport to MARANG Jetty.

By Road
From the West coast, take the Karak-Kuantan highway. At the end of the Karak-Kuantan Highway, a choice of 2 routes can lead to MARANG Jetty.

The 1st route is via Bukit Besi & Jerangau. One passes by oil palm plantations and fruit orchards on this route. One should look out for Kg Perpat exit (T173) before Wakaf Tapai. This is a faster route to Marang Jetty. Kg. Perpat exit is approximately 2 km from Ajil junction. 

The 2nd route is along the coastal highway via the various scenic coastal towns such as Cherating, Dungun and Rantau Abang. Sea views can be seen along the way with plenty of opportunities to enjoy local food, atmosphere and friendly locals. End your drive at Marang Jetty.

Duration of journey from Kuala Lumpur could be approximately 4.5 to 5 hours. Do have a road map handy at all times.

 

On Arrival at Marang Jetty
Surialink is our official boat service operator to Gem Island at the jetty. They are our most frequent and reliable service provider. Just a mere 15 minutes and you will have a breathtaking view of Gem and Kapas islands with crystal clear waters all the way.

Current Rate is RM 55.00 for Return Transfers per adult & RM 45.00 per child (12 years & below)

Note : Out of schedule boat transfers charge is an additional of RM140.00 per boat per way (3pm - 6pm) & RM160.00 per boat per way (6am - 9am).

Gem Isle is about 2.2km in length and about 8 acres in size.
Due to the easterly monsoon winds from South China Sea, Gem Isle is only available to guests from early March to end October annually. The weather is generally humid in Malaysia.

Main Languages spoken here are English and Bahasa Malaysia, the national language.

Electricity: 220 volts / 50 cycles

Time zone: GMT + 8 hours

Dress: Loose light casual clothing is best for this weather. A light sweater may be needed for evenings. If visiting towns and villages, do adopt a decent dress sense as locals are quite conservative in rural areas.

Currency: The basic currency is the Ringgit and sen. The Ringgit is issued in bills of RM 100, 50, 10, 5 & 1. the coins are sen 50, sen 20, sen 10, sen 5 and sen 1.

Money Changers: Banks, Shopping complexes & Airports are main areas where they can be found in main cities and towns.

Credit Cards: Credit cards are useful in most major establishments. Gem Island accepts Visa and Mastercard for payment.

Health: Consult your doctor for health advice prior to your departure for a holiday with us.
